Obituary

RAPID CITY - Robert L. "Bob" Sorbon, 76, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Clarkson Mountain View Health Care Center in Rapid City. Robert Lewis Sorbon was born June 23, 1935, in Rapid City to Lewis and Cora [Bottolfson] Sorbon where he grew to adulthood and attended school and graduated from Rapid City High School. He also attended San Jose State. He entered the U.S. Air Force on Sept. 7, 1955, and was honorably discharged on Sept. 6, 1959, as an Airman Second Class. He married Jacqueline Marie Dunn on August 24, 1968, at Butte, Mont. He began working for Sears in 1952 when he was in high school and continued to work for Sears at various positions in management in Rapid City and Milwaukee, Wis., until 1984 when he retired. He then returned to Rapid City and worked for Westside Ace Hardware for several years. He entered Clarkson Healthcare Center in November 2008. Survivors include his wife, Jacquie Sorbon, Rapid City; four daughters, Rochelle and Dennis Johnson, Santa Ana, Calif., Martyn and Bradley Phillips, Custer; Kristie and Jim Constantine, Butte, and Lori and Bill Keller, Rapid City; eight grandchildren, John Constantine, Jessica Constantine, Sam Johnson, Wendy Johnson, Matty Mehlhaff, Abigail Salkowski, Michael Salkowski, and Kate Salkowski; five great-grandchildren, Chloe McClain, Callan Constantine, Matthew Claytor, Aja Constantine, and Livia Constantine; and one cousin, Phylis Falkenburg of Douglas, Wyo. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Cora and Lewis; his daughter, Tameree Collins; and infant grandson, Jesse James Butler. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 23, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd., with the Rev. Don Brendtro officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The family is greatly appreciative of the constant, loving care provided by the staff at Clarkson Health Care and Sister Susan Pohl from St. Martin Monastery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Bob to Restored Life Outreach Fellowship.
