Roderick Stephens 67 of Salam passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Roderick (Rod) was born in St. John's Hospital in Huron, SD on September 26, 1953 to Robert and Willowdean (Fallon) Stephens. He grew up on our family farm until the age of 6 when in 1960, the family moved to Rapid City SD. He attended school at Roosevelt High School and graduated with his GED in 1973.

Rod worked at Black Hills Gold for many years as a polisher. He polished thousands of their beautiful Black Hills gold rings, pendants, etc. He also worked various jobs stocking food at the commissary, working in the butcher shop, cleaning equipment, working as a janitor, etc. He worked with the Black Hills Workshop to help several non-profits organizations.

Rod enjoyed woodworking and had a passion for tractors and fond memories of farming. For the last seven years, Rod lived in Salem SD.

Rod was the oldest of ten children.

Rod is survived by his five siblings: Kelly (Melanie) Stephens, Roberta (Purdy) Morrison, Joel (Lesa) Stephens, Laura (Lary) Middlebrook, and Mark (Debbie) Stephens as well as ten nieces/nephews and 11 great nieces/nephews.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents Robert Stephens, Willowdean Stephens, and four brothers - Robert Jr, Thomas, Kirk Allen, and Joseph.

Rod will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary cemetery on 12/4/20. He will always have a special place in our hearts! In lieu of flowers, please donate to Black Hills Works in memorial of Roderick Stephens, Black Hills Works 3650 Range Rd Rapid City SD 57702 (605) 343-4550.
