RAPID CITY | Rodney James Schmidt, 65, born in Kingston, RI, on Jan. 18, 1952, and raised in Windom, MN, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 24, 2017.
Father, Husband, Musician, and Friend. Man of God, who personally accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior on Dec. 10, 1988, was known for his care, understanding, and love of life. A Father who exemplified love, a Husband who led his family by faith, a Musician who played a mean inspiring bass guitar, and a Friend who always devoted himself to others and God.
He is survived by his stepfather, Donald Schuknecht; his wife, Marjorie Mae Schmidt; his son, Taylor James Schmidt; his brother, Steve Schmidt; four stepchildren; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Mae on March 23, 1989. They enjoyed a sweet relationship that endured many health issues and then magnanimous healing and the continuous gift of life, which was enriched by their devotion to God.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Black Hills Fellowship Church in Black Hawk, with Rev. Nathan Ennis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
