Ronald Dennis Anderson, 55, Rapid City, died Monday, March 28, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Ron graduated from Stevens High School with the Class of 1973. He was an active competitor in sports, competing in swimming and ski jumping. He attended college at South Dakota State University for a year. Ron was married in 1975 and in 1980 his daughter, Ronna, was born. Ron chose the family business of farming as his life work and operated farms in Hughes-Sully and Pennington-Meade counties before suffering the illness that left him paralyzed and forced him into early retirement from farming and several years of nursing home care. He remained interested and involved throughout his life. He is survived by his daughter, Ronna Schrenk, and her husband, Chris, Salt Lake City, Utah; his mother, Carol Anderson, Rapid City; a nephew, Staff Sgt. Joshua Anderson; and grandnephew, Kaden Anderson. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis L. Anderson; and a brother, Jerald "Jay" Anderson. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Stensaard officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
