Ronald Joseph Wood, 85, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at V.A. Black Hills Healthcare – Ft. Meade.
He was born on October 15, 1940, in Sparta, Wisconsin, to Addison Joseph and Beulah May (Paddock) Wood.
Ron was a man who found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. He loved working on cars and could often be found tinkering in the garage, always fixing, building, or figuring something out. He enjoyed reading, challenging himself with crossword puzzles, and rarely missed an opportunity to watch Jeopardy! Above all, he always had a story to tell—stories that reflected his humor, his experiences, and the way he connected with those around him.
More than anything, Ron will be remembered for the life he built and the people he loved. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence, humor, and steady nature left a lasting mark on those around him.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Sumang; his sister, Rosemarie Caskey; his children, John (Sandy), Scott (Tammy), Terri, and Ernest (Amber); his grandchildren, Nicole (Jorge), James, Addison, Harrison (Hannah), Emily, Addison, Patrick, John, Kaiden, and Layla; his great-grandchildren, Joseph and Graciela; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Addison and Beulah Wood; his sister, Carol; and his brother, Charles.
The family would like to extend their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to the care team at V.A. Black Hills Healthcare – Ft. Meade for the compassion, dignity, and unwavering support they provided. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort and peace to Ron in his final days, and it will never be forgotten.
