Obituary

Rosella W. Herr, 91, of Rapid City, died on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Rapid City Regional Auxiliary Hospice House. Rose was born on March 3, 1922, in Aberdeen, to Andrew F. and Kathryn (Moffenbier) Nikolas. She lived with her family of 5 brothers and 3 sisters and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1940. She moved to Rapid City in 1950 with her husband, Duane Hyde and son Marvin, and they started a bus company, which is now Gray Line of the Black Hills. Rose married Ray Herr in 1972 and the couple lived in Rapid City and also had a winter home in Arizona, where Rose loved to golf and paint pictures, which she shared with her family. Rose loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild and she would say she loved them to pieces. They have fond memories of her having tea parties with them and getting up to dance around the room. Survivors include her son, Marvin Hyde and his wife Paula, of Rapid City; her grandson, Greg Hyde and his wife Colleen, of Rapid City; her granddaughter, Nichole Hyde Danley, of Rapid City; two sisters, Irene Harrington, of Rapid City and Alice Howell, of Sioux Falls; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with the Rev. Herb Cleveland officiating. Interment will follow in Black Hills National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. A memorial has been established for Hospice of the Hills, 224 Elk St., Rapid City, SD 57701.
