Obituary

RAPID CITY- Rose A. Rosario, 93, Rapid City, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at Good Samaritan Echo Ridge Assisted Living. Rose was born September 6, 1917, in New York, New York to Pietro and Incornata (Divitto) Lioy. She was the oldest of four and grew up and lived in New York City. She married Elmo P. Rosario on October 19, 1946. Shortly after giving birth to twin boys, the family moved to California in 1948. She lived in Burbank until 1993 when she moved to Rapid City to be closer to family. She remained independent and lived in her own home until 2006, when she moved to Echo Ridge. She lived in Burbank, CA for 45 years working in the cafeteria of several elementary schools and spent more than 20 years caring for infants of parents attending church services at the Little White Chapel in Burbank. After her husband died, she devoted her time taking care of both parents. With her help they were able to stay in their own house until passing away in their nineties. Rose was a member of St. Finbar Catholic Church in Burbank and Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City. She also belonged to the Canyon Lake Senior Citizens. She loved the outdoors and camping. Her last camping trip with a sleeping bag and tent was at the age of 86 in the Big Horns of Wyoming. She always had a quip or two and would laugh at anything that seemed funny to her. Her laugh was contagious. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmo; her parents: Pietro and Incornata; and two brothers: Anthony and Salvatore. She is survived by two sons: Dr. Elmo (Margie) Rosario of Rapid City, Dr. Peter (Christina) Rosario, Evansville, IN; one brother, Albert; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered today, March 3, at 1:00 PM at Blessed Sacrament Church in Rapid City with Fr. Brian Lane presiding. A memorial has been established to the Terra Sancta Community, Catholic Diocese of Rapid City. Her online guestbook is available to sign at www.osheimschmidt.com
