Rose Marie Thomas, 87, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 after a brief illness at the Westhills Village Heath Care Center, Rapid City. She was born near Howard, SD and raised on the family farm.
She graduated from Howard High School in 1950. After high school she attended Rasmussen Beauty School graduating the following year. She worked as beautician until 1964, where she semi-retired to raise and be closer with her family. She did keep her beautician license current, as she enjoyed helping friends, relatives and family with their hair needs. In March of 1974 she started working for the State of South Dakota as a Social Worker. Finally, after 21 years and 11 months Rose retired permanently. She was married to Milo Bundy.
She moved to Rapid City in 1977 and on May 5, 1979 she married William "Bill" Thomas.
Her hobbies included gardening, playing cards, and traveling. Rose enjoyed her flowers, most especially bright colored flowers. Having been raised on a farm she had small gardens: mostly radishes, green bean, cucumbers and tomatoes.
She was a member of a Gourmet Cooking Club, Member of Daughters of the Nile; Past Matron of Golden Link Chapter of Eastern Star, Black Hills Rambler of Good Sam and NCT camping group.
Rose is survived by two sons: Gary Bundy (Delia) of Rapid City, SD and Kyle Bundy of Broadalbin, NY; one daughter Roxy Brenden (Dennis) of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister in law, Gloria McCain
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Helen McCain; three brothers: Robert "Bob", Vincent "Vince", and James "Jim"; two sisters: Florence Doty and Betty McCain; one great-grandchild; husbands: Milo Bundy and William Thomas.
Memorials have been established for Calvary Lutheran Church and the Shriners Hospital.
Visitation from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Friday February 28 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 10:00 am.
Burial will be at 1:00 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
