Obituary

Mesa, AZ - Roseada Hanify Rasmussen, 99, Mesa, AZ and formerly of Rapid City and Belle Fourche, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the Windsong Care Assisted Living Center surrounded by her loving family in Mesa, AZ. Roseada was born October 1, 1916 in Newell, SD to Elmer and Birdie Conner. She was the oldest of nine children. Roseada attended Nisland Elementary and Nisland High School and she graduated from Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish, SD. Throughout her long life, Roseada was an active member of many Catholic parishes. She taught elementary and junior high school for approximately 20 years in country, public and private Catholic schools. Roseada had a passion for the education of children, taking a special interest in helping children learn to read. She volunteered and supported many charities and loved oil and acrylic painting, needlework and handicrafts, interior design and décor, traveling, cooking [she made the best homemade cinnamon rolls] and magnificent dinner parties. Roseada will always be remembered for her deep faith in God, strength of character, hospitality, sense of nurturing, generosity, culinary talents, and most of all her love for her family. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, 8 & 40 Club and worked with the Rapid City and Hermosa Senior Citizens Center. She is survived by four daughters: Roberta [Louis] Rever, Beverly [Walter] Wales, Patricia [Bruce] Koch, and Karin [Gustav] Seligmann; 11 grandchildren: Robin DeFilippi, Deborah Rever, Curtis Wales, Scott Wales, Tracy Koch, Brian Koch, Stuart Koch, Spencer Koch, Nathan Colburn, Darin Colburn, and Corrie Colburn; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister: Rachell Hess and one brother: Jerry Conner. Roseada was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Robert I. Hanify in 1959, second husband Paul F. Rasmussen in 1999 and six siblings. Donations in memory of Roseada may be made to St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School, St. Vincent De Paul Charities or your favorite charity. Her Christian Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Cathedral of our Lady of Perpetual Help, 520 Cathedral Drive, Rapid City with Rev. Father Michel Mulloy as celebrant. Interment will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday at the Pine Slope Cemetery at Belle Fourche.
