IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roseanne
Mansfield
February 11, 1935 – May 16, 2022
Roseanne Mansfield, 87, of Rapid City, passed peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Roseanne Pesek was born February 11, 1935, in New Underwood, South Dakota, to Adolph and Christina (Hruska) Pesek. Roseanne attended Garfield Elementary School and Rapid City High School, where she graduated in 1953. Roseanne married Louis C. Mansfield, Jr., at St. John's Catholic Church (now St. Therese Parish) in Rapid City, on December 19, 1953.
Roseanne was known in the community by her generous and loving heart. She was a stay-at-home mother, where she raised her children and cared for her husband, who was injured in a racing accident in 1967. Roseanne was actively involved in her children's' lives and activities, which included baseball, cheerleading, newspaper routes and racing. Our family always enjoyed the yearly trips to the circus and Storybook Island, which was one of our mother's favorites. One of our favorite things to do with Mom was to all jump into the back seat of her car (all of us standing up) and go barreling down New York Street, known to us as "tickle belly hill," and fly over the railroad tracks by Prairie Market. After we flew over the railroad tracks, Mom would ask, "Did that tickle your bellies?" We would all be screaming and say, "Yes!!" It was the best of times.
Survivors include 6 children, Les Mansfield, Julie Mansfield, Dan (Melinda) Mansfield, Louanne Mansfield, Jerry (Laurie) Mansfield, and Bill Mansfield; a brother-in-law, Michael (Dianne) Mansfield; 2 sisters-in-law, Patricia Pesek and Billie Jean Pesek; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Adolph and Christina Pesek; 6 brothers, Paul, Bob, Dick, Ralph, and Red, and Joseph Pesek; her loving husband of 68 years, Louie; her daughters Patty and Cathy, and her son Jeffery.
