It has been over 18-years since dad left us; now mom has gone home to be with him. Rosemary "Rose" Jewell passed away April 10, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Rose was born November 24, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa to Esther and George Sapp. December 21, 1947 she married the love of her life: Melvin Milton Jewell in Carroll, Iowa. They moved to Rapid City, SD in 1949. She is survived by their three children: son, Mel LeRoy Jewell; and daughters, Peggy (Steve) Roozing; and Linda Jewell, all of Rapid City, SD. Survivors also include four grand-children: Jewell (Mass) Cham, Houston, Texas; Dianne (Pat) Marcoux, Saco, Maine; Timothy A. Hall II, Biddeford, Maine; and, Tammy Hall, Rapid City, SD. There are also eight great-grand children and one sister, Mrs. Leonard (Donna) Ives, Belle-Vista, Arkansas. There were two people whose friendship meant a lot to Rose over the years: Robert Williamson, brother-in-law, Seattle, Washington; and, Tom (Phyllis) Stevens, Piedmont, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin and her parents. For many years mom loved to play Bingo. Mom and dad also spent many years Flea-Marketing. Since dad's death, she continued to enjoy going to rummage sales with her son Mel. She was a Lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1273, Rapid City, SD. Mom requested to have no funeral or memorial service. Granting her wishes a Memorial has been established at the Cornerstone Mission. She enjoyed visiting their Thrift Shop and she believed in their cause. Checks should be made directly to the Cornerstone Mission.
