Obituary

Rapid City - Rosie Galbraith, 80, passed away Thursday March 12, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Rosie was born November 2, 1934 to Theresia (Zacher) and Tony Neigel in Eagle Butte, SD. She grew up in Eagle Butte along with her 10 sisters and 1 brother. She moved to Rapid City soon after graduating from high school and started working at Swanders Bakery when she caught the eye of the extremely handsome (future husband, our dad) Bob Galbraith. They were married soon afterwards in August 29, 1953. The best was yet to come. They were blessed with their two daughters: Sandra Kay and Jeri Marie. Rosie was an avid bowler and coached for many years helping teach several generations of young people how to bowl. She enjoyed every aspect of her 50 years of bowling, the friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. Rosie was an accomplished seamstress. She began sewing as a young girl making her own clothes. Mom made everything from wedding dresses to draperies, upholstering furniture to stuffed animals for her grandchildren. There was quite a demand for the bowling shirts Rosie made. Her hands never rested. Rosie was either sewing, crocheting, or making the infamous "scrubbies". She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Shawn Nielsen and Jeri and Al Barry. Grandchildren Shellie Furchner, Stacey (Craig) Wehrle, Shari (Chad) Dahlke, Kevin Barry (Rapid City) and Brian Barry (Watertown). Great-grandchildren Bailey Williams, Lux Wehrle, Joey and Serena Dahlke. Her sisters and brother Mary-Helen Riss, Shirley (Richard) McDermaid, Clarie (Bob) Melvin, Gloria Allen, (Rapid City); Brother Buddy (Helen) Neigel, (Eagle Butte), Alma Hill (Texas), Sharon (Jeff) Neigel (Washington) and her brother-in-laws Jim and Pauline Galbraith, Jerry and Linda Galbraith, Ronnie and Mary Ellen Galbraith, Donnie and Carolyn Galbraith all of Rapid City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters, and a great-granddaughter Ella Rose. If you will be attending the visitation or funeral, mom would be thrilled if you wore a "Rosie G. Original." Mom, we were truly blessed to have been able to share our lives with you. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, March 19 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard. Her Memorial Service Mass will be 10:30 am Friday, March 20 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 4500 Jackson Boulevard with Rev. Brian Lane officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
