ROCHFORD – Roy Schiefer, 89, died Monday, October 2, 2023 at Monument Health.

Roy was born on July 9, 1934 at Rochford, South Dakota to Rudolph and Katherine (Genthner) Schiefer. He married Mary "Betty" Johnston on April 7, 1951 at Sturgis, South Dakota. To this union, three daughters were born: Janet, Janice and Beverly. Roy was a longtime logging contractor in the Black Hills. He remained active running Central Hills logging until his death.

Roy loved being outdoors and sawmilling. He was a family man and enjoyed his time with his daughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Janet; brothers: Jerry, Bob, Bill, Jay, and Lee; and his sisters, Phyllis.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Janice (James) Ackerman, Rapid City; daughter, Beverly Schiefer, Rapid City; and sister, Charlotte Hight, Gillette, WY.

Services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Visitation will start at 8:00 a.m.

Interment will be at the Rochford Cemetery.
