Ruth Ella (Nachtigal) Anton, 91, of Rapid City, SD passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Rapid City Hospice of the Hills, Rapid City, SD.   Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Sunday, January 10, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be at 11:30 am Monday, January 11, 2016, at South Park United Church of Christ, 2201 3rd St., Rapid City, SD 57701 followed by interment at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

Ruth Ella Nachtigal was born on September 11, 1924, the third of ten children of Emil and Kate (Sabin) Nachtigal at the family farm near Fairfax, SD. Ruth Nachtigal graduated from Platte High School in 1942 and attended a nursing program at Methodist State Hospital in Mitchell, SD.  She received her nursing diploma on June 17, 1945 and moved to Rapid City, SD, to start a long career as a Registered Nurse with the Rapid City Hospitals.

She met Edward Anton while working in Rapid City and they married on June 3, 1950.

She is survived by her children:  Barbara Good of Watauga, TX; Bruce Anton (Cathy) of Dallas,TX; Rodney Anton (Kim Miller) of Lenexa, KS; Kevin Anton (Carrie) of Rapid City, SD; and Sandy Haugan (Michael) of Keller, TX; and two grandchildren, Charlie Anton and Casey Haugan.

She is also survived by three sisters: Doris Duba, Pierre, SD; Florence Lang, Byron, MN; and Irma Natvig, Sioux Falls, SD; and a brother, Glen Nachtigal, of Brookings, SD.  Ruth is preceded in death by husband, Ed; son-in-law William Good; and brothers Allen; James; Don; Ralph; and sister, Gladys.

After retirement from nursing, Ruth continued to volunteer at the Rapid City Regional Hospital, her beloved church and a local soup kitchen.  Ruth was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing card games and Scrabble.  She also loved day trips through the Black Hills and attending the annual Nachtigal family reunion in Platte, SD.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ruth's honor to South Park United Church of Christ.
