RAPID CITY- Ruth Hansen, 90, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at Fountain Springs Health Care. Ruth was born April 28, 1923 in Dodge, Nebraska to Frank and Emma (Elsner) Sloma. She was the youngest of ten children. She married Robert Hansen on March 14, 1949 and to this union, two sons, Michael and John were born. Ruth was also the neighborhood "mom" for many kids. She was a cook for Beebe Homes for many years. Ruth was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army, serving on their Advisory Board. She also was an Administrative Assistant Case Worker for the Salvation Army. She was a member of the Home League and League of Mercy. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Hansen; three brothers: Aaron, George, and Otto Sloma; and six sisters: Clara Sloma, Lillian Broderson, Lorrene High, Rose Brown, Margaret Foote, and Beverly Deubler . She is survived by her two sons: Michael Hansen, Hot Springs; John Hansen, Kalispell, MT; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren and many dear friends. The family of Ruth would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Fountain Springs Health Care for their friendship and care of their mother. They made her last years so happy. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with Captains Nathan and Michele Harms from the Salvation Army officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
