Sarah L. Sally Martin, 96, Rapid City, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born January 14, 1914 at the Howard grandparents farm near Benedict, NE to William H. and Ina H. (Howard) Lytle. She attended a country school then Benedict Consolidated school and graduated from Benedict High School. She then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated with a B.S. degree in 1937. While at the university, she met Harry A. Pug Martin and they were married March 3, 1937 at the family home at Benedict. They lived and raised their children, Connie & Bill in Lincoln, NE. Her working years in Lincoln were at Bryon Memorial Hospital in the Dietetics Dept. The family moved to Sioux Falls, SD in1964 then on to Rapid City in 1971 where they purchased the Hoseth Auto Parts business. Later they changed the name to H & B Automotive. Sally was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and Ruth Circle, Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Black Hills Daughters of the American Revolution and Canyon Lake Senior Citizens. She enjoyed her roses, violets and orchids, Blue Birds that arrived in April, her bridge group and many friends and always loved her family and church. Survivors include her children, Constance Stromer, Copperopolis, CA and son and daughter-in-law, William Bill and Martha Martin, Rapid City; grandchildren, Lori and Russell, Lindermann, Longmont, CO, Debrah and Christopher Stangel, Coeur dAlene, ID, Crystal Stromer, Pacific Grove, CA, Nathan Martin, New York City and Jenny and Richard Green, Rapid City, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, three brothers, a sister-in-law, Fay Lytle and a son-in-law, Jon Stromer. Memorial services will be 11:00 Saturday, Oct. 9, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bob Jacobs officiating. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Inurnment will be next to her husband in Mountain View Cemetery.
