RAPID CITY, SD - Scott Allen Koenig passed away March 2, 2024, at the age of 54 in Rapid City, SD.

Scott was born January 19, 1970 in Rapid City, SD to Bob and Donna Koenig.  He grew up in Chapel Valley and attended Cleghorn Elementary, Dakota Junior High and graduated from Stevens High School in 1988.

After high school he moved to Montana for several years before returning to Rapid City.  He wed Tara Reid June 8, 2002, at South Canyon Lutheran Church. They cherished many years together before parting ways but maintained a positive relationship despite their divorce.

Scott's journey in the professional salon industry began in his high school years as a local salon delivery boy, this started his passion in helping salon owners and stylists reach their full potential. Throughout his career as a sales consultant, Scott dedicated himself to assisting salons across Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and South Dakota. Scott often shared a light-hearted anecdote when asked how he decided to stay in the industry "When I delivered to the salons and I would leave with cookies from friendly women, why wouldn't I want to continue". His professionalism and genuine care earned him high regard among countless individuals in the salon community.

Scott was a deeply loved and cherished person, leaving a positive impact on many lives with his soft spoken and giving nature. His presence, infectious smile and big hugs will be greatly missed by his family, work family, lake family, friends, Tara, and his faithful canine companion, Otis.

Survivors include brothers, Robert "Bob" Koenig of Rapid City, James "Jim" Koenig (Jennifer) of Kansas City, nieces and nephews, Jackson and Katherine Koenig, Mason and Ellie Koenig, and Nolan, Adam and Regan Gerdes.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
