Rapid City – Scott Richard Sebbo, 48, of Rapid City, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 26, 2025, after a courageous 2½-year battle with colon cancer.

Born on July 28, 1977, in Rapid City, Scott graduated from Stevens High School in 1996. An outstanding multi-sport athlete, he excelled in football, basketball, and Post 22 baseball. He went on to play both football and baseball at Augustana University, where he became a beloved teammate and a lifelong friend to many. Following his four years at Augie, he attended the University of South Dakota.

Scott was known for his larger-than-life personality, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and his proud role as the ultimate "girl dad." Above all, he poured his heart into Madison and Mylee, raising them with devotion over the past four years, and lived each day with deep love for his family, friends, students, and players. A lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, he cheered them on with unwavering loyalty through every high and low. He also loved hunting and created countless memories with friends who became like family during their many hunting trips to "the farm."

He is survived by his daughters, Madison and Mylee Sebbo; his fiancée, Jayme Johnson, and her children, Kinley (Jayden) Archuleta and Christian Johnson; his mother, Debbie (Greg) Hilt of Rapid City; his father, Rick (Angie) Sebbo of Keller, Texas; one sibling, his sister, Lindsay (Brad) Willits; one nephew, Brody Willits; and one niece, Khloe Willits all of Rapid City. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and stepsiblings.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Freda Wermerson and Leroy and Dorothy Sebbo; uncles Jerry and Terry Wermerson, Richard Sebbo, and Dave Zerfas; his aunt Gayle (Sebbo) Brandt; and cousins Ryen Zerfas and Jamie Brandt.

For many years, Scott dedicated his life to teaching and coaching as a PE teacher at Southwest Middle School, where he inspired countless students with his energy, encouragement, and heart. He also shared his love of coaching high school football at Custer, Stevens, Douglas, and St. Thomas More High Schools and coaching several of his daughter's softball teams. His love for sports and mentorship touched the lives of students, players, and families throughout the Rapid City community.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City. Burial of his ashes will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, with a reception afterward at Calvary Lutheran Church. All are welcome to attend to greet the family.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hospice House for their compassionate care, and to Scott's fellow teachers, students, and families of Southwest Middle School for their unwavering support of Scott and his family throughout his fight.
