Rapid City – Sharon Ormesher, 69, died Friday, August 21, 2026 at her residence under hospice care.

She was born on January 15, 1957, in Rapid City, SD to Paul and Annabelle Martin. She worked as a dispatcher for the Rapid City Fire Department.

In December 1986 she married Robert Ormesher and started her life as a Navy wife. Together with kids, dogs and cats they traveled to Charleston, SC; Point Mugu, CA; Aurora, CO; Whidbey Island, WA; St. Paul, MN; and Greensboro, NC; before returning to Rapid City.

She saw a great deal of the country and had great friends everywhere she stopped. Along the way more cats, dogs and kids were added to the family. She also found time to become a medical transcriptionist.

Upon returning to Rapid City, she became active at her church, St. Therese Catholic Church-The Little Flower, and with the local Rapid City Right to Life. To her surprise, she was proclaimed Treasurer.

She enjoyed many hobbies including quilting, sewing, and making Christmas ornaments. She loved decorating her house for Christmas. It was a special time for her.

After a 2 year battle with cancer, she died at home surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by her husband Robert Ormesher; sons Roger and William Olson; daughters Jamie (Brian) Lethlean, Emily (Ty) Ormesher, and Laura Ormesher; 7 grandchildren and sister Barbara (Herky) Salono.

Visitation will be Monday, August 31, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at St. Therese Catholic Church-The Little Flower and the Vigil Service and Recital of the Rosary will be at 6:00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church-The Little Flower.

Burial Service will be at 1:30 pm at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
