Obituary

RAPID CITY--Sharon L. Ruthford, 70, went to her Lord, with her family by her side, from Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Sharon was born on September 10, 1939, in Bowman, ND, to Morris and Leona (Beyer) Nelson. She grew up on a farm near Bowman and attended country schools. Sharon graduated from Bowman High School in 1957 and went on to attend National College of Business in Rapid City. In November of 1957, she was united in marriage to a young Army man, Robert Ruthford. The family lived in many Army posts throughout the world, which made her greatly appreciate her home country and region. Sharon moved back to Rapid City in 1971, when she began her career in accounts receivable with Black Hills Power and Light. She was employed there for 33 years, and retired in 2004. Sharon remained very active, volunteering many hours at the Minneluzahan Senior Center. She also was an avid reader, enjoyed card games and loved having people over to visit. Sharon was also a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Ronda (Rich) Price, Mud Butte; her sons, Randy (Lori) Ruthford, Rapid City, Richard Ruthford, Rapid City and Bryan (Diane) Ruthford, Black Hawk; her brother, Myron (Connie) Nelson, Rapid City; her sister, Roline Taylor, Bowman; her grandchildren, Tyler, Aaron and Tara Price, Megan, Mason and Moriah Ruthford and Lori Bertrand; her great-grandchildren, Julius, Ty and Rayzohn Bertrand; numerous nieces and nephews that loved her and close friends, Tom and Marlena Parr, Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Coy Price in 2008; a sister, Carolyn Sondreal and a brother, Willie Boyce. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 12, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Road, with Pastor Dwight Stensgaard officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
