Obituary

Rapid City--Sharon Lee Schultz (Kingsbury), 78, of Rapid City, died on December 6, 2011 at Hospice House. Sharon was born May 31, 1933 to Verne Charles and Anna Margaret Kingsbury (Engebretson) in Philip, SD. The family moved from Philip to Rapid City in 1940. She graduated from Rapid City High School and then attended Colorado Womens College in Denver, CO for one year. Sharon married H.J. Corky Schultz on April 17, 1953. To this union, two children were born, Vicki Lee and Michael William. She pursued a career as a medical secretary beginning in her junior year of high school, ending at the time of her retirement. Sharon loved to craft, crochet, and had a passion for collecting recipes. She was a member of the Rapid City DOES #33, actively participating for many years. She enjoyed her class of 51 luncheons sharing memories over a cup of coffee. She loved to go to lunch with her many friends. An abundance of friends will now be searching for a new lunch companion. Family time was of the utmost importance. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her two children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Sharon entered Hospice House on Feb. 10, 2011. She battled various forms of cancer until Dec. 6, 2011. The care and love provided by the staff of Hospice House enabled her to live her final days with dignity, heartfelt compassion, and excellent medical care. She was truly in a house of love. Sharon made many new friends during her time at Hospice House, as did her family. She enjoyed all who visited her, took her for a ride, or to lunch or just called to see how she was doing. After waging war with cancer for 17 years, the cancer finally won. At last, she is at peace.
