Obituary

On the morning of September 17, 2023, Sharon Diane Wetch passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, following a lengthy fight with polycystic kidney disease (PKD). Sharon was 73 years old. She was born in Mobridge, South Dakota, on February 7, 1950, to Violet Jones and Irvin Twete.

Sharon married Dennis Jensen in Mobridge, South Dakota, on June 21, 1969. They had one child together, Michelle Findley. Dennis passed away in a motor vehicle accident in September of 1970.  Sharon later married Elmer Wetch on March 18, 1972, in Mobridge, South Dakota. In 1985, they relocated to Rapid City, South Dakota. They had three children together: Shawn, Scott, and Rich Wetch. Elmer passed away in November of 1992 as a result of a stroke.

In 1997, she met Keith Robertson. he became her life partner and a significant part of her, and her family's lives.  He supported her throughout her years of battling PKD.  Sharon's family cannot thank him enough for all his love and support throughout the years.

Sharon spent 18 years as a housekeeper at Westhills Village.  She enjoyed caring for the residents and forming genuine connections with them. Sharon maintained such contacts even after she retired.

She was highly involved and present in the lives of all her children and grandchildren.  She never missed a single thing in their lives.  She was an excellent mother and the world's greatest grandmother.

Sharon had a lot of interests.  She enjoyed circling events like garage sales in the local newspaper and going to them.  She enjoyed all holidays, but her favorite was Christmas.  She was an excellent gift giver who always made sure that every one of her grandchildren had a new, complete outfit for the new year.  She and Keith were such a fantastic team that she would buy the gifts, and he would wrap them with a lot of tape.

Sharon was a fighter who fought her chronic kidney condition for many years, resulting in multiple other health conditions.  Sharon was fortunate enough to have a kidney transplant in 2017.  Her family is overjoyed that this organ donor allowed them to spend more time with her.  She was an excellent patient who developed strong bonds with her healthcare team.  She was very vocal about how much she adored her doctors.  On the other hand, she never let her illness interfere with her time with her family.  Sharon also participated in various PKD events for the PKD Foundation.

As a passionate animal lover, Sharon also considered her cat Patches and dog Pepper family members. Sharon also adopted several pets from the Humane Society of the Black Hills over the years.

Sharon is preceded in death by her mother, Violet Twete, her father, Irvin Twete, late husband Dennis Jensen, late husband Elmer Wetch, and brother-in-law Ted Doty.

Sharon is survived by her life partner Keith Robertson, sister Gloria Doty (late husband Ted), brother Marlowe Twete (Darlene), daughter Michelle Findley (Dan), and her three sons, Shawn Wetch (Jenny), Scott Wetch (Penny), and Rich Wetch (Sammi).  Along with her ten grandchildren David, Danny, Ashely, Zach, Kylie, Renae, Sara, Ryan, Payton, and Landon.
