Sharyl Ann
Glader
May 22, 1949 – April 26, 2026
Rimrock Evangelical Free Church
Starts at 10:30 am (Mountain time)
Sharyl Ann Glader, 76, Rapid City, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at her home.
Sharyl was born May 22, 1949 in Lincoln, NE to Leonard and Margaret Walla, the second born of four children. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1968. She attended SDSM&T where she was a cheerleader and first runner up Miss SD Universe. She transferred to Black Hills State College and graduated in 1972 with a double major in Physical Education and Speech as well as a BS of Education. She began her teaching career in Pierre, SD teaching Junior High PE and coached track and cheerleading. While in Pierre, she met Steven W. Glader and the two were married in Rapid City on July 13, 1974.
Upon returning to Rapid City, she taught PE from 1975 until her retirement in 2010, taking a brief pause to raise her children. In 1998, she was awarded as the South Dakota PE Teacher of the year. After retirement, Sharyl was an avid bowler, hiker, biker, and even competed in several half marathons. She was part of Prima’s Adult Tap group and was planning on performing in their spring recital yet again this year. She loved her Bible study group, her bunco girls, her happy hour gatherings, and of course her Friday pontoon days in the summer with her friends.
Above all else, Sharyl was a devoted mother to her three children; Tate, Brant, and Lindsey and never missed an opportunity to support them in their activities. She loved fiercely, served selflessly, and was the cornerstone of her family. She treasured holiday traditions and created lasting memories for those she loved. Her deep faith in Jesus Christ guided her life and inspired her service to her family, friends, and her church community at Rimrock Evangelical Free Church.
She is survived by her three children, sons Tate (Demetria) Glader and Brant (Mika) Glader both of Rapid City, daughter Lindsey (Shay) Lundvall of Gillette, WY, sister Kathy (Kevin) Leui, brothers Roger (Margaret) Walla and Chris (Diana) Walla, six grandchildren; Paige, Olyn, Eli, Lily, Skylin, and Breckin and many friends whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven, and both of her parents Leonard and Margaret as well as her mother and father-in-law Sidney and Delores.
A memorial service celebrating Sharyl’s life will be at 10:30am Saturday, May 2, at Rimrock Evangelical Free Church on HWY 44 West with Pastor Nic Ewing delivering the message. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service.
A memorial fund in memory of Sharyl is being established at Rimrock Evangelical Free Church.
