Mom

I still think about you often.

I miss you more than words can say and at times I still cry when I think about you.

It feels as if it were yesterday you were here.

Here for me to ask advice of, here for me to share my hopes and dreams with, and most importantly…just here.

You left too soon.

Children are never ready to let go of their parents.

For some reason we think you will live forever.

And you know what, you will live forever in my heart.

I just wanted you to know how blessed I consider myself that I get to call you Mom.

Shellie Dealda Maki (Cole), 58, of Rapid City, SD, passed away on October 5, 2025, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital. Shellie was born on November 15, 1966, in Long Beach, CA, to James Cole and Kathleen Jarman. She married John Maki, and though they later divorced, they shared four children together.

Shellie loved her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. Her face would light up whenever she saw them. She was a good woman, a loving mom, and a devoted nana who will be greatly missed.

Shellie is survived by her children, Jessica Williams (Donald), Misty, John Jr. (Demi), and Shawn; six grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Braedon, Alex, Athena, and Christian; and her nieces, Joely and Julia. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Cole and Kathleen Jarman; her brothers, Doug and David Cole; and her nephew, Colton Stranger Horse Cole.

A celebration of Shellie's life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Legion Post 22 on St. Patrick Street in Rapid City, SD.
