Obituary

Shirley Susie Apple Little was an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and Shirley later earned her GED from Oglala Lakota College in 1989. She worked for IHS as a CNA and then as housekeeper at the old Sioux San Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota. Shirley was known for her wacky personality, whether it was a lie or not. She was enjoyable  to be around and always had a crew with her.  She claimed practically everyone as her grandchild or child, whether they were family or not.  She was the mother, grandmother, aunt to everyone, even the homeless people.  She was very nice; if you needed a place to stay, she would welcome you into her home since she loved everyone.  Shirley moved about a lot since she disliked being in one place for too long. She had a happy life. She lived a long life and enjoyed gambling as she got older.  She enjoyed driving around town and sitting in neighborhood parks, her favorite being Sioux Park.

Shirley is survived by her siblings, Zandra Apple, Garfield Apple, and Audrey Apple, Roxann Apple, Connie Apple; children, Khesapawin "Girlie" Apple, Kenny John, Jeffery Jefferson Apple, Grandchildren, Cante Long Soldier, Ceta Long Soldier, her first great-grandchild, Jevon Ravon Long Soldier, and all grandchildren and great-grandchildren we may have forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Estella (King) Apple; grandmother, Susie Apple; daughter, Bessie Blue Two Bulls, son, Pauly Rae, two stillborn twins (names unknown), spouse, David Little, sisters, Valaria Gloria Apple, Mercedes Annabelle White Plume; brothers, Darwin Apple, Ravon Dino Apple, Tyrone Apple, and Levi Apple, grandson, David Charles Cuny; and granddaughter, Samantha Jo Touche.
