IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Lavene
Fisher Meister Odom
September 22, 1932 – June 29, 2020
RAPID CITY- Shirley LaVene Fisher Meister Odom, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at Monument Health.
She was born in Elm Springs, SD to Arthur T. Fisher and Clara Mae Johnston on Sept. 22, 193? (She lied about her age so much, no one really knows.)
She was preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Ferdinand, Harold, Howard, Harvey, Earl, and Duane, and one grandchild, Brandy. She is survived by her five children: Nick Meister, Anchorage, AK; Lon Meister, Rapid City; Rendy Wise (Morgan), Lemmon, SD; Tedye Carlson (Ron), Yoder, CO; Brock Odom (Anne-Marie), Center Township, PA; two sisters: Doris Fennel and Berniece Aarstad; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
She was a jack-of-all-trades and believed she mastered them all. Her favorite and longest-lasting gig, besides being a cowgirl at heart, was being a bartender. She tended bar in Rapid City and the surrounding area for 40 years. She was told many secrets along the way. If yours is still a secret, she's taking it to the grave with her!
If you were ever lucky enough to go gambling with her, it was always, "Splitsies! Splitsies!" She was true to her word and always split her winnings (minus her cut, of course.)
Her family was most important to her. Not to mention her dogs, Chewie and Chomper. She loved them, spoiled them, and made them fat!
Her memorial visitation will be from 5:30-6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life services will follow at 6:00 p.m.
We would love anyone that knew her to come and share a story or two. She was so much fun and loved life. The family would love to hear your stories.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. As you can tell by reading, this obituary captures her essence and fun sense of personality. VIVA LAVENE!
A memorial has been established to a local no kill animal shelter: Western Hills Humane Society in Spearfish, SD or Battle Mountain Humane Society in Hot Springs, SD.
