Obituary

Shirley Lamke Dixon, 92, passed away August 15, 2021 in Glendale, California.

She was born on May 30, 1929 in Sidney Nebraska, to Bernard George "Ben" and Effie (Pepper) Bules. She married her high school sweetheart, Melvin A Lamke on September 16, 1948, later Sealed in The Salt Lake City Temple. Most of their marriage they lived in Rapid City, South Dakota, where they raised five amazing children.  Melvin preceded her in death. She later married Jack Dixon of Glendale California, where she has lived the last 16 years. Jack passed away at 104 years old this past year.

Shirley was the epitome of the family matriarch. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.
She had the kind of love that will ripple effect through this world for years to come. She had a gift of making each one feel they were the most important and most loved person in her world when they were with her. She prayed for us, advised us, and loved on all of us.
Shirley's great love for nature and animals has extended through her example to her family. She naturally walked a walk that was taught to her by her mother and then taught to her family by her nurturing and caring example of kindness and love to everyone she met.
Throughout the years she had many church callings, to name a few: Primary President, Relief Society President, and Visiting Teacher. Her passion and talent for Music has been enjoyed by many as most of her years she was the Music Director.
Shirley's testimony was so strong. It was always a top priority for her to hold a Temple Recommend even if she lived miles from the nearest temple.

She is survived by her daughter, Christina (Rick) Kuemin, Boise, Idaho. Son, Joe (Patt) Lamke, Meridian Idaho. Daughter, Julie (Keith) Taylor, Rapid City South Dakota Son, John (Kris) Lamke, Nampa Idaho. Son, Ben Lamke, Rapid City, South Dakota. 20 Grandkids, 44 Great Grandkids, and 8 Great Great Grandkids.
