Obituary

Shirley Ann (Junker) Scholl was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on January 9, 1935 to Bernard Junker and Henrietta (Bocker) Junker. She was baptized in a Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and was confirmed on April 10, 1949 in Spencer SD. The family moved to a farm in Fulton SD around 1941. She and her brother Leonard attended school in a one room country school not far from the farm. She attended Fulton High School until her freshman year when the family moved to her Grandparents farm in Oldham SD. She went on to graduate from Oldham High School in 1952.

She went on to work at various local cafes and was working at the lunch counter in the Madison bowling alley when she met Wesley Scholl.  In 1953 Shirley and two of her girlfriends decided to move to Rapid City, SD to find work and Wesley went along to help them move. She lived with her girlfriend and worked as an assistant bookkeeper for two years while dating Wesley.  They were married on September 11, 1955 in Oldham SD, afterwards they returned to Rapid City and Shirley started a new job as the manager for United Insurance Agency.  Two years later they bought a house and started a family. Shirley was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rapid City. She was church treasurer and was involved with Sunday school, the church choir, bible study and the Christmas programs.  She kept busy raising 4 children, attending PTA meetings, 4H, extension club, Bingo, and Women of the Moose activities. Her hobbies included gardening, canning/freezing, reading and playing Bingo.  She had a number of girlfriends that all shared each other's laughter, joys, tears and sorrows.  She enjoyed all her children's friends that came to the house, her grand-dogs, and her two cruises with Wesley and their trips to eastern South Dakota, North Dakota, Arizona, Nebraska, Florida and Hawaii. Shirley called Fountain Springs Health Care Center in Rapid City her home for many years and considered the staff her second family.

She was preceded in death by: her loving husband Wesley Scholl, her parents Bernard and Henrietta (Bocker) Junker, and her brother Leonard Junker.

She is survived by; her children; Dennis of Rapid City, Tim (Noreen) of Rapid City, Judy (Ramon Thomas) Morgan of Tucson, AZ and Bonnie (Kevin) Hahn of Sheridan, WY; her grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie, Alyssa, Jaclyn, Cody, Kylee, and Haley and ten Great Grandchildren.
