IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Faye
Struble
March 16, 1942 – December 25, 2022
RAPID CITY – Shirley F. Struble, 80, of Rapid City, South Dakota, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 25, 2022. Shirley was born March 16, 1942, in Bowman, North Dakota, to Eino and Viola Ruona. Shirley grew up in Buffalo, South Dakota with her four siblings and later moved to Rapid City in 1960 to attend St. John's School of Nursing.
Shirley began her nursing career in 1964. She dedicated over 40 years to the Rapid City community and local hospitals as a Registered Nurse. Shirley loved being a nurse and developed many life-long friendships with those she worked with.
On August 28, 1965, Shirley married her husband of 57 years, William (Bill) Struble. They had two children. Shirley was not only dedicated to her nursing career, but also to her family. The home she created was always pristine. She never made a bad meal and had supper on the table nightly, except for Fridays. For some reason, the oven was always "broken" on Fridays. Shirley also enjoyed baking. Every year at Christmas time, the deep freezer was filled with Christmas cookies, bars and fudge, a favorite time for many. Shirley also spent many hours gardening. She worked tirelessly creating a positive, loving environment for her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Bill Struble, of Rapid City, son, Mark (Tonya) Struble and granddaughters, Hannah, Sadie and Madelyn of Aberdeen, SD; daughter Tami Struble (James Whaley) of Rapid City, and their children, Joseph, Erik, Shelby (Jacob), Jordan (Andrew) and Brianna and one great-granddaughter, Ellie; Brothers-in-law, Mike (Cheri) Nehl of Belle Fourche, SD; Jim (Linda) Nehl of Keldron, SD; Joe (Vicky) Nehl of Worland, WY; Tom Nehl of Upton, WY; Rich (Bonnie) Nehl of Butte, MT; many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as dear friends, Gary (Sharon) Andersen and family of Spearfish, SD.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Eino and Viola Ruona; brothers, Bob Anderson, Glen Anderson, and Keith Ruona, sister, Lois Estes; in-laws, Vyola and John Lowe and Mark and Evelyn Nehl; sisters-in-law, Susan Schneider, Fran Warinner and Karen Rouna and brother-in-law, Richard Estes.
