Obituary

NemoStacey Lynn LaFrenz, 39, of rural Nemo, passed away at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House on Monday, October 28, 2008. Stacey was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on November 16, 1968, to Eugene and Phyllis (Brudvig) LaFrenz. She moved to Rapid City in 1983 with her family and attended West Jr. High and Dakota Jr. High and attended and graduated from Central High School in 1988. She married Oscar J. Chartrand in 1990, and they had 2 children while living in Daytona Beach, FL. After her divorce in 1999, she moved back to Rapid City, where she remained until her last loving breath. She loved to be outdoors, ride horses, ATVs and motorcycles and she loved her dogs. She was a people person and felt grateful to have the days on earth that she had. Stacey died of metastatic breast cancer, which she fought for years and just couldnt get the luck she needed. She smiled until the end and never once gave up or lost faith. She just believed she was going somewhere special and it was her time. Stacey is survived by her son, Oscar Lee Chartrand, III, Port Orange, FL and daughter, Danielle Elaine Chartrand, Port Orange; her mother and step-father, Phyllis and Jerry Hellwig, Rapid City; her sister, Lisa Mincey, her husband Mark, and their children, Aaron and Andrew, Simpsonville, SC, her brother, Dirk LaFrenz, Hermosa and her sister, Vicki Kirkpatrick, her husband Charley and their children Tristan, Charley, Jr. and Kyle, La Quinta, CA. To list all of the rest of those who loved her would be impossible. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene LaFrenz, who died in 1999 from cancer also. She was very loved and an enjoyable person to have around. She wants everyone to know that she loves all of you and she will always be somewhere looking over you also. She also wants everyone to continue loving, laughing and livinglife must go on. She at peace now and doesnt want anyone to mourn her death, but celebrate her life and death of the cancer, now its gone for sure. Her memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, at Blessed Sacrament Church (4500 Jackson Blvd.) with Father Dan Juelfs presiding. A reception will follow. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Sioux Falls. A memorial has been established for her childrens education.
