Obituary

RAPID CITY--Stephen G. Turner, 82, died at Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Stephen was born on July 13, 1927, in Grafton W. Va., to Charles Greer and Eva (Behan) Turner. He grew up in Grafton and graduated high school there. He served in the Army Air Corps and US Air Force from 1945 to 1961, retiring as an Tech Sergeant. On June 1, 1955, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Voss in Clark, SD. After retiring from the Air Force, Stephen was employed for 21 years with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier and supervisor. He retired in 1982. Stephen was a member of the Elks Lodge 1187 and Blessed Sacrament Church. Enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and bowling. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Turner, Rapid City; a son, Steve (Lynn) Turner, Rapid City; a daughter, Becky (Randy) Hall, Mead, Colo., a brother, Charles (Gloria) Turner, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, Emilee Turner, Dustin Lee Turner, Sara Turner and Kody Hall and family friend, Barbara Patterson. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with a Christian wake service following. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 24, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Dan Juelfs presiding. Burial, with military honors provided by Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard, will be at 12:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary Hospice House, 224 Elk Street, Rapid City, SD 57701.
