Suzette M. Ryland, 66, of Rapid City, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at Monument Hospital, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Suzette was born and raised in Rapid City. She attended Catholic School through eighth grade, graduated from Central High School, and later attended the University of South Dakota.

In 1987, Suzette met the love of her life, her husband, Tom Ryland. Together they shared 38 years filled with love and laughter. Suzette had a deep passion for animals, raising three cats and six dogs over the years, and was known for her kindness, generosity, and adventurous spirit. Her backyard was a haven for deer and any animal in need. Friends often said Suzette's pets "hit the lottery", and it was true-they meant the world to her.

In her younger years, for 15 years, Suzette spent three months each year running a commercial fishing marina in Naknek, Alaska embracing the rugged beauty of the region. She was also a lover of the English language and spent countless hours reading and writing poetry.

Suzette is survived by her husband, Tom Ryland; dog, Lucy; sister, Bridget Stone (Greg); brothers-in-law, Tony Ryland (Nancy), Rob Ryland (Beth), and Lanny Pexa (Sheri); six nephews, two nieces, and other beloved family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Virginia Tuscher, and brother, Danny Tuscher.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 23, from 3:00–5:00 PM at Osheim Funeral Home, Rapid City.

Funeral Service will be Monday, November 24, at 10:30 AM at WestGate Community Church, Rapid City.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
