Tamela Ellen Schmidt, 60, of Box Elder, South Dakota, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.  She was born on November 29, 1963 to William and Mary (Atwood) Wozna in Columbus, Mississippi.

Tamela and her family moved several times throughout her life until she ultimately settled in Box Elder.  On November 25, 1988 she married Rick Schmidt in Rapid City.  Together they had two children, Landon and McKinsey Schmidt.  They also were blessed with seven grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

She loved the outdoors.  Tamela enjoyed tending her garden and spending time out on her deck of she and Rick's home.  Together, they took camping trips in the Black Hills and toured them on their four-wheelers.

Tamela had a great sense of humor and was a jokester.  Her passion was parenting both to her own children and grandchildren.  Ultimately, she will be remembered as a caring and loving mother, grandmother, friend, and wife who always put the needs of others in front of her own.

Tamela is survived by her husband of 35 years, Rick Schmidt, her son Landon Schmidt (Jessica), daughter McKinsey Schmidt, her mother Mary "Kay" Wozna, brother William "Bill" Wozna, Jr., sister Deb Lacy (Al), seven grandchildren; Ashlyne, Tylee, Baileigh, Emersyn, Emma, Journey, Evie and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father William "Bill" Wozna.

Funeral services will be held privately amongst her family.
