Obituary

Rapid City – Terry Stocker, 64, died Saturday, May 11, 2019 at his home in Rapid City.

Terry Ray Stocker was born June 18, 1954 at Huron, SD to Lyle LaVerne and Anna Marie (Jakobsen) Stocker. The family moved to Rapid City in 1962 where Terry attended school and graduated from Rapid City Stevens High School in 1972. He then attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND and graduated. He spent his entire career at drafting and architecture. He first worked at Ackerman & Mazurek Firm in Rapid City. He then moved to Helena, MT and was employed with Carhu and Crenen Architect Firm. Later he moved to Anchorage, AK where he was employed for 5 years and while there, he went to Hawaii to take and pass the Architectural Exam and became a Licensed Architect. He then moved to Kenai Peninsula, AK and opened his own firm – "Great Land Architects". In 1992 he moved to Rapid City and was employed with Wayne Lund and Associates and helped with the architect on several casinos including the Deadwood Mountain Grand. He retired in 1995 after his father died to help his mother and then later went back to work with Wayne Lund and Associates.

Terry loved the outdoors and like to fish and hunt and pan for gold. He loved the beautiful Black Hills. He also enjoyed going rafting on the rivers and had a trip planned with nephew Pete to start on May 29 th to go river rafting, cook and bake and his specialty was cookies and cake. He loved life and he loved to smile and laugh. He liked blue grass and rock and roll music.

Survivors include his brother Donald Stocker of Clancy, MT and one nephew Peter Stocker of Gillette, WY.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Dennis Stocker on April 8, 2008

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City with Chaplain (Ret) Herb B. Cleveland officiating.

A reception will be held at 3:00 pm at the American Legion Post #22, 818 East Saint Patrick Street, Rapid City.
