Theodore Edward Darling Sr. passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by kindness, integrity, and devotion to those he cherished. Born on October 25, 1949, in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Robert and Bertha (Huebner) Darling, Theodore’s life journey was one deeply rooted in family, community, and steadfast values.

He was a beloved husband to Ida (McFarland), offering partnership and love throughout the years. Together they faced the joys and challenges of life’s many seasons, building a foundation that nurtured their family and shaped the values of those around them.

Throughout his life, Theodore’s roots in Hot Springs and Rapid City were evident in the values he held dear. Whether sharing stories, offering support in times of need, or celebrating milestones with family, Theodore’s presence left a lasting imprint.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, sons, Ted (Michele) Darling Jr., Tad (Heather) Darling, grandchildren, Mercedes (Sadie) Darling, Keyra (Renee) Darling, Isaiah Darling, Jeremiah Darling, Noah Darling, Ben Darling and all who had the privilege of sharing life alongside him. Though he has departed, his memory lives on in the hearts of those he loved, and his legacy endures through the values, stories, and traditions he so thoughtfully passed on.

His life was also shaped by those who have passed before him. He was preceded in death by his, parents, brothers, Robert and Jim, his sisters, Alma and Karen.
