IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Lee
Howey
October 31, 1951 – December 15, 2020
Myersville, SD—Thomas "Tom" Lee Howey, 69, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Rapid City, SD, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Tom was born October 31, 1951, to LeRoy A. and Beverly P. (Barker) Howey in Rapid City, SD. He lived at Deerfield most of his life and most recently at Myersville, (near Rochford).
Tom attended grade school in Rochford and Deerfield; high school in Rapid City, Sturgis, and graduated from Hill City in 1970. In 1976 he traveled to the state of Washington, and spent some time traveling and working there. He later pursued his logging career in Wyoming and North Dakota, eventually returning to the Deerfield area, where he grew up. Eventually selling his skidder, he retired from logging, continuing to live at Myersville.
Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed picking berries and making jelly, gardening, cutting fire wood, playing cribbage, and bowling. He never went anywhere without his beloved dog, Ring.
He was known as a giving person…always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy A. Howey; grandparents, LeRoy E. and Dolores Howey, Lyle O. and Beatrice Barker; and several aunts and uncles.
