IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Sr.

Thomas G. Anderson Sr.
September 4, 1947 – September 4, 2023
Thomas Anderson Sr., 76, passed away surrounded by his family on September 4, 2023 after a courageous and long battle with cancer. Thomas (Tom) was born on September 4, 1947 to Raymond and Mary Anderson in Rapid City. He was the youngest of seven children. After attending Rapid City Schools, he enlisted in the Army in 1964 and was stationed in Germany for three years during the Vietnam War. Being stationed overseas allowed him to visit numerous countries across Europe. He was always proud of his service to his country.
In 1968, while on military leave, he met Shirley Gayda in California. They were married on September 12, 1969. They went on to have three children: Sherri, Andy, and Tommy. Shirley stayed by his side, and they would be celebrating 54 years of marriage this month.
After his service, Tom began a 37-year career as an over-the-road truck driver. This took him all over the United States. Tom could always give you advice on the best route to take and let you know all about the highways you would be on. He had many stories to tell from the many towns and locations he had been.
Tom loved to fish, hunt, and pick numbers for the lottery. He always cherished and was very proud of all his grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed going to all the kids' sporting events and would even attend dance recitals although it wasn't his favorite thing to do. He had a great sense of humor and would always crack a joke any chance he could get. Oh, and we can't forget how he loved animals, especially his "Grand-Dogs". They always knew exactly who to go to for treats.
Tom's jokes, laughter, and kindhearted spirit will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Andy (Debbie) Anderson; daughter, Sherri Cribbs; grandkids: Jeremy (Satera), Kaitlyn (Hunter), Danny (Heather), Ashley (Zach), Bradley, and five great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Jr (Tommy); his two brothers and four sisters.
