Obituary
Tom was born October 29, 1953 to Lavern and Madeline (Pourier) Steen in Rapid City SD. Tom attended school in the Rapid City School district until his graduation from Central High School in 1971. After High school he worked various jobs including ranching and construction jobs. In 1973 he started working at Black Hills Packing Co until December 1989.
In October of 1975 he married Elizabeth Russell and to this union four boys were born where they resided in Rapid City. After the closing of Black Hills Packing Co he worked for Collins Siding for a short time. He then formed his own company, All American Siding, Windows and Roofing in 1996 where he retired from and handed it over to his sons.
Tom was very passionate about his Catholic religion and the spiritual ways of the Lakota Culture. He was an avid wood worker with much pride in his finished projects and loved sharing on Facebook. Tom was persistent in his projects, if he had any questions on how to get the job done he referred to You tube. Some of his most treasured moments were spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors.
Tom had an intense and unconditional love for his family, especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed and his infectious laughter will remain with us all!
He is survived by his four boys, Ben(Katie) Steen, Black Hawk SD, Joe (Sarah) Steen, Lincoln NE, Paul Steen, Black Hawk,SD, Tony(Cassie) Steen, Lincoln NE; Nineteen grand children. Two brothers, Mel (Connie) Steen, Fairburn, SD Noel (Beth) Steen, Rapid City SD; two sisters Cathy Steen Rapid City, SD, Shannon Steen Chiolis, Rapid City, SD; two Uncles, Galen "Bud" Steen Rapid City, SD, Gerald "Sonny" (Mary Jo) Pourier, Scenic SD; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline (Pourier) Steen, Laverne (Teek) Steen.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Mother Butler Center with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.
Christian Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Witt presiding.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
