Obituary

Our little boy, Timothy DeCoteau O'Toole, also known as "Bear Came Fighting," gained his angel wings at the young age of 11 months, 19 days, unexpectedly at Rapid City Regional Hospital to be with our Creator. Our Timmy was a beautiful little heart warrior and endured countless procedures and five open heart surgeriesmore than any one person should be able to handle. He always showed great strength, resilience, and despite his challenges, was a happy little boy. He fought so hard to be with us and has taught us many lessons. We are grateful for the diligence Dr. Hammel and his staff at Children's Hospital provided in Timothy's care and for making it possible for us to have the precious time we had with him. We are also very thankful for all the positive thoughts and prayers that were continuous during his fight. He has touched the hearts of many and is loved and missed greatly. His family at Children's of Omaha would say that he made you work for his smiles and giggles, but those were constant when his big sisters were in his sightalways eyes on them! Timmy loved to roll all over the place, put his feet on you, toss his favorite toys around, and jabber. He will always be remembered for his shear strength, strong will, cheeky full smile, eagerness to eat sweet potatoes, big bright eyes, and of course his great hair! I will never forget how his many PICU nurses would constantly style his Mohawk, and even after coming home, after baths, that is how it stayed! Survivors include his parents, Bradley and Teena O'Toole, Rapid City; two sisters, Bailey Denny and Ulani Denny; paternal grandmother, Monica O'Toole, Rapid City; maternal grandparents, Earl and Cindy Denny, Sturgis; paternal great-grandfather, Cyril Ehresman, Billings, MT; maternal great-grandmother, Shirley Patrick, Delhi, CA; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent O'Toole in 2012; his paternal grandfather, Tim O'Toole; and fellow "Heart Warriors," Rogue, Mia and Ethan. A Celebration of Timmy's life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Comfort Inn and Suites, 915 Fairmont Blvd., (behind Ruby Tuesdays on Mount Rushmore Road), with the Rev. Herb Cleveland officiating. We ask that anyone sharing in this, please wear bright colors as Timmy loved them!
