RAPID CITY - Una May Hamm, 102, Rapid City, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Clarkson Mountain View Health Care Facility. She was born May 1, 1908, in Freeman, the daughter of Nels A. and Bessie (Washburn) Jensen. The family moved to Farmingdale when she was six. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1926 and attended Spearfish Normal for two years, and then taught in country schools for six years. Una May married Del R. Hamm on June 19, 1934, at the Jensen Ranch near Farmingdale. The couple ranched on the Hamm Ranch off Sheridan Lake Road until moving to 720 1/2 Clark St. in Rapid City in 1945. She worked extensively with 4H for many years. Survivors include four children, Leo Hamm and his wife, Audrey, Ted Hamm, and Dean Hamm and his wife, Jill, all of Rapid City, and Bessie Fay Lane, Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Del R. Hamm, on Jan. 17, 1971; her parents; seven sisters; and three brothers. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Evans officiating. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
