Rapid City -  Valorie Devon Kammert, 60, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Rapid City Regional Hospice Auxiliary House of complications from multiple myeloma. She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Katie, and son Alan.

Val loved her profession as a nurse anesthetist, and she brought the same level of dedication, enthusiasm, and skill to her many interested, including gardening, quilting, knitting, stained glass artwork, and even drinking tea. She was equally ready to lend a hand with a project or to marvel at the creativity of others.

Val had many friends because she was good at being a friend. Most of all, she loved her family and enriched their lives with her zeal to enjoy the world around her and make the most of each day.

Donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at a later date for Val.
