Velna "Bee" Tieszen, 88, passed away on October 12, 2015, at Longmont, Colorado. Bee was born Velna Marie Wingert on March 26, 1927, to Mathias and Lyda (Doeden) Wingert in Canistota, South Dakota. She graduated from Canistota High School in 1945 and from Presentation Nursing College in 1948. Bee married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Jern Tieszen, on March 1, 1949. She continued her career as a registered nurse in hospitals and for the South Dakota Public Health Department. Bee was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Veronica Hurry; and brothers, Lt. Donald Wingert, Dr. Marvin Wingert, Dr. Robert Wingert, and Klaas Wingert. Survivors include sons, Randal M. (Kathy) Tieszen of Alabama and Tim G.(Kyong) Tieszen of Texas; daughters, Renee A. (Kevin) Mulvey of Iowa, and Donna M.(Dewey) Chiles of Colorado; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marcia (Hank) Williams of South Dakota. Memorials will go to Cornerstone Rescue Mission in Rapid City. A visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00am at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Friday, October 16. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
