Obituary

Rapid City – Vera Church, 86, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Our beautiful mother was the strongest, the bravest, selfless, faithful in God, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was born to Esther (Miller) and Warren Adams on July 10, 1930 at Platte, South Dakota. They lived on a ranch south east of Rapid City known as lower Spring Creek. She attended a country school near Folsom, SD, known as the Bradford school. In Rapid School she attended Jefferson School, Garfield School, and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1949.

She worked as a bookkeeper, a clerk, and at the Pro-Shop at Meadowbrook Golf Course for 4 years. She was also bookkeeper for several years for the family owned business, Church Sheet Metal, Heating and Air Conditioning.

She married Donald Church, the love of her life, in 1950 at Rapid City, while Don was still in the U.S. Navy. They attended Calvary Lutheran Church. Their four children were baptized and confirmed at this church. She worked with the Alter Guild during the 1960's and was President one year.

She enjoyed going for coffee or lunch with family and friends. She felt blessed with their four children and great love for them and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, bible study, working in her yard, and taking care of her beautiful roses.

She is survived by her children: Larry Church, Ronald (Carol) Church, Karolyn (Phill) Bowman, and Michael (Dani) Church; grandchildren: Cherice Johnson, Dustin Church, Kassandra Butts, and Kyle Pexa; great-grandchildren: Austin, Avery, Korbyn, Brooklyn, Cameron, Jaxon, Damian, Danica, and Dakota; and several dear nieces and nephews.
