Vern, as he was affectionately called, was 86 years old when he passed away at his home in Rapid City, SD. He was born on March 25, 1929, in Clinton, IL, and is predeceased by his parents, Vernon L. Woizeski, Sr., Mesa, AZ, Helen L. (Maple) Afflerback, Trenton, NJ and brother Teddy L. Woizeski, San Francisco, CA. He came to Ellsworth AFB in 1969 with his squadron from Okinawa working in missile maintenance, and lived with his wife Helene and their three children. He retired from the Air Force in 1974 with 27 years of service. After retirement he moved to Valley City, ND, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree. When he returned to the Black Hills in 1994 he took up his passion for singing, which began in Bloomington, IL, as a member of various chorus groups and the 4 J's quartet. While others were getting older, Vern also known as Pops refused to grow old. He was favorite on the karaoke circuit, delighting patrons at Robbinsdale, Clock Tower and TREA as he performed his favorite songs. An avid photographer, he snapped photos of the pretty girls there that he harmlessly flirted with. He will be dearly missed by the karaoke community. Known as "Opi" by his grandchildren, Vern was a beloved Father and Grandfather. He was a jovial and happy man, engaging in long conversations with family and friends. He stayed in touch with his family and friends via letters and phone calls. Vern is survived by his former wife Helene G. Bryan, three children, Karen Z. Ledbetter (Kim), Cheryl K. Roseland (Rex), Vernon L. Woizeski III, five grandchildren, Lindsay H. L. Morley (Ricardo), Kellen R. Ledbetter (Tiffany), Amy M. Glauber (Chris), Jennifer N. Colangelo (Mario), Cody O.
