Rapid City, SD - Vesper J Swenson, 82, of Rapid City, passed away Tuesday September 24, 2024.

Vesper was born May 28, 1942, in Newell, SD.  She was the second child to William (Bill) and Elma Curtis.

Vesper was an avid cook and baker.  She loved baking treats and cakes for loved ones, and friends.  This also accounted for numerous awards she won from the annual Central States Fair.  She enjoyed bowling for many years, and amassed a large amount of awards throughout her career.  She also gained great joy and satisfaction watching her favorite football and basketball teams, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Golden State Warriors.  She loved creating crafts for special occasions.  These could be anything from a handmade card with a special message to something she sewed for a loved one, such as a needed blanket or pillow.  She loved spending time outside working on her flowers and watching birds at her bird feeder.  She was a great mother, spouse, and friend.  She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Knute Swenson, Rapid City : Children, Char Swenson, of Rapid City, James Swenson (wife Tracey) of Arizona, Valerie Andel of Colorado, Scott Swenson of Nebraska, grandchildren Tyler, Brooke, Ashlyn, and Lindsey, and brother Roy Curtis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy, and brother Lyle.

Memorial Service to be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Blvd. Rapid City, SD 57702

Graveside Service will be at 12:30 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Black Hills National Cemetery, 20901 Pleasant Valley Dr. Sturgis, SD 57785.
