Obituary

CASA GRANDE, ARIZ.--Victor Eugene Le Beau began his spiritual journey at the age of 64 years on June 29, 2009, in Mesa, Ariz. He was born in Cheyenne Agency, SD, to Theodore and Zelma (Meeter) Le Beau on May 18, 1945. He was raised on the family ranch in Le Beau Town on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation. After graduating from high school, he attended classes at Haskell Institute in Kansas before enlisting in the United States Army, where he served his country for 3 years during the Vietnam War. In 1966 he married Mavis Larson in Washington, D. C. and had three children, Kelley, Brian and Vicki. They later divorced. In 1999 he married Michelle Robertson in Tucson, Arizona and they resided in Casa Grande, Arizona until the time of his death. Throughout his life Vic enjoyed many sports including the sport of rodeo (bare-back riding and bull riding) and enjoyed coaching basketball and assisted in the training of boxers through his membership in the Rapid City Indians Men's Club. He spent the majority of his career working for the government with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Health Services as an Inventory Management Specialist. He retired in 2001 and continued to be an avid fan of rodeo, enjoyed gardening, landscaping, and the activities of his granddaughter, Kelci. He is survived by his wife Michelle of Casa Grande; two daughters, Kelley (Kelly Longstaff) Le Beau, Rapid City, Vicki (Marty Hebb) Le Beau, Eagle Butte; step-children, Darin (Lubka) Robertson, Okinawa, Japan, Richard Ruckdaschel, Watertown, Christian (Mandi) Ruckdaschel, Mesa, Ariz., Heidi (Justin Engels) Ruckdaschel, Watertown, Haili (Chad Norris) Ruckdaschel, Desert Hot Springs, Calif; his granddaughter, Kelci Bends (Vicki Le Beau) ; step-grandchildren, Matthew Robertson (Darin Robertson) and Alexis Ruckdaschel (Richard Ruckdaschel.) He is also survived by his brothers, Jerome (Trudy) Le Beau and Gerald Le Beau, both of Rapid City and his sister, Thelda Le Beau, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Zelma Le Beau, his son, Brian Le Beau and his brothers, Harvey, Steven and Arlen Le Beau. Visitation will be on Monday, July 6, from 5 until 7 p.m ., with a Christian wake service following at 7 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Rapid City with Father David Matzko, S.J., presiding. Burial, with military honors provided by Rushmore VFW Post 1273 and the SD Army National Guard, will follow in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. A reception will follow at St. Isaac Jogues Church.
