Rapid City – Vincent "Vinnie" Nicholas Korang, 77, died Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at his residence.
Vince was born December 16, 1946 at Lemmon, SD to Peter Francis and Amelia Mary (Keller) Korang. He attended school and grew to adulthood in Lemmon. He entered the United States Army on July 19, 1967 and served in the Vietnam Conflict where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, two overseas service bars, he was a rifle sharpshooter, and also received the PURPLE HEART. He was discharged on July 18, 1969.
After his military duty he moved to Rapid City, SD where he began his long career working at the South Dakota Cement Plant until his retirement.
He was a motorcycle fanatic and loved the time of the year when the Sturgis Bike Rally was in motion. He also had a love for his Dodge Challenger.
Vinnie is survived by his brother Peter (Barbara) Korang of Hettinger, ND and his sister "Flipper" Weisbeck of Rapid City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Bernard.
His Burial Service with Full Military Honors will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Service will be led by Chaplain Bradly Colling. Meet at Staging Lane 2.
