Virginia Marie Coates, 72, departed this life at home on June 1, 2020, with her husband, Ron Coates, and daughters by her side.  She died after a battle with cancer, but eagerly anticipated being face-to-face with her Lord.

Besides spending time with her family, Virginia had a passion for her faith, all things nature, gardening, wood working, and was a voracious reader. Virginia had a heart for serving others and pastoral care, a special sense for people in need, and a compassionate ear for all.  Above all, she was a very spiritual person, who loved her quiet time and pursued the heart of God's Word.

Virginia was predeceased in death by her parents, Donald and Helen Carson.  She is survived by her husband, Ron Coates, her daughters Jacqueline Fritz (Jack), Leslie Bobb (Ian), Heather Hawkinson (Andrew), Holly Coates (Luis Usera); eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Janice Parker, Karen Horan, Cathy Ostwald, and Carole Dowling, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A prayer service, rosary recitation and time of sharing will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, at the Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home.

Requiem mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, at Immaculate Conception Church (5th & South Streets)

Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Words of thanks seems so inadequate for all of the kindness that has been bestowed upon our family.  We are finding strength in knowing earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. May God bless you richly for blessing us. - The Coates Family.
