Sturgis - Wanda Yvette [Martin] Gammel, 83, passed away December 28, 2013 at the Sturgis Regional Care Center. She is most remembered by her family and friends for being an avid bowler and someone who loved to bake character cakes. A very outgoing person, she always left a lasting impression. Those who really knew her would attest to a sometimes ornery and mischievous streak often embarrassing those who were with her [especially her children]. She belonged to the First Christian Church and knew her Lord and Savior. Survivors include two daughters: Yvette [Roy] Philipsen and Yvonne [Lyle] Koistinen both of Sturgis, SD; one brother: Billy Ray [Sylvia]Gist of Polson, MT; four grandchildren: Mel [Stacy] West of Tacoma, WA, Kristi [Jason] Bradley of Mitchell, SD, Desirae [Roger] Bloesser of Sidney, MT, and Mark [Sunshine] McCaskey II of Englewood, CO; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband: Jim Gammel; parents: Everett and Myrtle Gist; one brother: Everett Gist, Jr. and one sister: Phyllis Garner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. At Wanda's request, no funeral service will be held. Arrangements are with Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home, 2700 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City.
