IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda J.
Kincaid
August 21, 1932 – July 30, 2019
RAPID CITY- Wanda J. Kincaid, 86, died Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Rapid City Regional Hospice House.
Wanda Jean Kincaid was born on August 21, 1932 in Bowman, ND to Floyd and Valva Harr. The family moved to Rapid City in the early 40's.
Wanda married the love of her life, Cal, in 1957 in Daytona Beach, Florida. They were married for 56 wonderful years. Wanda used to remind friends and family that she and Cal had never spent the night apart in 50 years.
Wanda was the proud mother of three boys and family was always first and foremost in her life. She was never far from her sister and mother and they opened a little store they named The Gift Nook in a back room of her mother's house on Canyon Lake Drive. Since Wanda's three sons were grown and her sisters three daughters were well on their way, they were able to devote most of their time and energy to the business. But, in reality, the joy of running their business was in meeting new people, many who became lifelong friends, and learning to do new things. In fact, after a period of time they were making 75% of their inventory by hand. Many people still remember The Gift Nook and the wonderful times they had there.
Camping trips in the motor home were always a highlight of the summer where they were joined by the entire extended family and friends. Her ability to talk about anything, whether it was a joy or a problem, endeared her to everyone she interacted with.
Wanda was well known for her daily walks in the neighborhood. She was a very fast walker! Many people remember seeing Wanda walking quickly down the sidewalk with Cal and the dog lagging far behind.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, (Cal); father (Floyd), mother (Valva), and sister (Noni). She is survived by her three sons Danny (Petty), David (Michele), Larry (Tanya), seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. God Bless her beautiful soul.
